Cruz Azul Prepares Roster Remake

Cruz Azul is planning to undergo major changes to its roster after a disappointing performance in the Wildcard Weekend.

The team has separated its players into three categories: keepers, goners, and trade bait.

The goal is to build a roster that will be a serious contender for the Apertura 2023 title and challenge for a top 4 finish.

GM Óscar Pérez and his team have identified acquisition targets, including Atlas winger Brian Lozano, who scored the winning goal against Cruz Azul.

The team may also be looking to acquire forwards such as Juan Fran Brunetta, Harold Preciado, Roger Martínez, and Facundo Batista to overhaul its front line.

In addition to offensive acquisitions, Cruz Azul is also targeting defender Matheus Doria and midfielder Rafa Carioca, who played under coach Ricardo Ferretti at Tigres.

Former Tigres player Carlos Salcedo is also in talks with Cruz Azul to join the team and reunite with his former coach.

These acquisitions may mean saying goodbye to some legends of the team, including defender Julio César Domínguez and skipper Jesús Corona.
